In a family that strongly adheres to specific traditions, I faced a conflict between family beliefs and my personal views. At one point, my parents, concerned about my future, asked me to bathe with holy water in an attempt to cleanse myself of perceived impurities within me. While I felt confused, I complied with their request, although my heart and mind struggled, trying to comprehend the abstract meaning behind this action. Through this work, I reflect on that experience, pondering my questions about family beliefs and traditions, the role of water in the spiritual aspects of my community, and how these have shaped my identity to this day.
